Brevis blast sets up South African win over Aussies: 2nd T20 (Darwin)

Dewald Brevis smashed a century as South Africa levelled the T20I series 1–1 with a dominant 53-run win over Australia in the second match at Darwin’s Marrara Stadium.

After being sent in to bat, the Proteas powered to a record 218/7, driven by a breathtaking unbeaten 125 from Brevis – the highest individual T20I score in Australia and for South Africa – featuring 12 fours and eight sixes.

Australia’s reply faltered against disciplined bowling from Corbin Bosch (3/20) and others, with only Tim David (50 off 23) offering serious resistance before the hosts were dismissed for 165 in 17.4 overs.

The loss ended Australia’s nine-match unbeaten T20I streak and set up a series decider in Cairns.

South Africa 218 for 7 (Brevis 125*) beat Australia 165 (David 50, Bosch 3-20, Maphaka 3-57) by 53 runs.
