England avoid whitewash with thrilling last wicket draw: 4th Test (SCG)

Usman Khawaja scored twin centuries at the SCG, while Scott Boland’s incredible entry into the Test arena got even better.

Jonny Bairstow led a recovery for England with a fighting 113, his first Ashes century in the first innings.

Enter England’s tail of Broad, Leach and Anderson. They survived 64 balls under lights to secure a thrilling 1 wicket draw, avoiding the possibility of a whitewash.

England 294 (Bairstow 113, Stokes 66, Boland 4-36) and 9 for 270 (Crawley 77, Stokes 60, Boland 3-30) drew with Australia 8 for 416 dec (Khawaja 137, Smith 67, Broad 5-101) and 6 for 265 dec (Khawaja 101*, Green 74, Leach 4-84).
