Bumrah, Archer headline drama filled contest: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Lords)

Paceman Jasprit Bumrah produced a devastating spell dismissing Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Chris Woakes to tilt the balance in India’s favour in the morning session at Lords.

Root completed his 37th century as England were bowled out for 387 with Bumrah taking 5-74.

Jofra Archer had an immediate impact. Bowling with pace and bounce, he removed Yashasvi Jaiswal with just his third ball after more than four years of injury-induced exile from Test cricket.

Joe Root's magnificent catch at first slip not only ended Karun Nair's resistance at 40, but also gave Root his 211th catch in Tests overtaking Rahul Dravid as the record holder.

KL Rahul was 53 not out alongside Rishabh Pant, unbeaten on 19 as India closed at 145-3.

India 145 for 3 (Rahul 53*, Pant 19*) trail England 387 (Root 104, Carse 56, Smith 51, Bumrah 5-74) by 242 runs.
