On Day 2 of the 1st Test between Zimbabwe and New Zealand in Bulawayo, New Zealand tightened their grip on the match with a commanding all-round performance.
The visitors were bowled out for 307, thanks largely to Devon Conway’s composed 88 and Daryl Mitchell’s gritty 80. Despite a mid-innings collapse, New Zealand recovered through a key stand between Mitchell and Nathan Smith, who later retired hurt.
Zimbabwe’s batting faltered under sustained pressure when they began their second innings and ended the day at 31/2, still trailing by 127 runs.
With the pitch offering assistance and New Zealand’s bowlers in control, the visitors are well positioned heading into Day 3.
Zimbabwe 149 and 31 for 2 (Bennett 18, Henry 1-11, O'Rourke 1-18) trail New Zealand 307 (Conway 88, Mitchell 80, Muzarabani 3-73, Chivanga 2-51) by 127 runs.
