Philander & co trigger Aussie collapse: 1st Test, Day 2 (Perth)

Australia had a spectacular collapse losing all 10 wickets for just 86 runs as Vernon Philander took 4-56 to dismiss the home side for 244 in reply to South Africa’s first innings of 242.

At stumps on day two, South Africa hit back further when they were 104/2 in their second innings with a lead of 102. Their joy was clouded after Dale Steyn was ruled out of the series with a fractured bone in his shoulder.

South Africa 242 and 2 for 104 (Elgar 46*, Duminy 34*) lead Australia 244 (Warner 97, S Marsh 63, Philander 4-56, Maharaj 3-56) by 102 runs.
