Afghanistan knocks out Sri Lanka in historic win: Asia Cup SRL v AFG (Abu Dhabi)

Sri Lanka crashed out of the Asia Cup as Rahmat Shah excelled in a shock win by minnows Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's top-order flourished as Rahmat Shah (72, 90 balls, five fours) hit his 12th half century. Allrounder Thisara Perera took 5-55.

Chasing 250, Upul Tharanga made 36 (64 balls, 3 fours). But Rashid Khan (2-26), Mohammad Nabi (2-30) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2-32) demolished Sri Lanka as the five-time former winners were bowled out for 158 in 41.2 overs.

Afghanistan 249 (Rahmat 72, Ihsanullah 45, Thisara 5-55) beat Sri Lanka 158 (Tharanga 36, Rashid 2-26, Naib 2-29) by 91 runs.
