Analysis: Grand series finale as England stumble after Brook, Root blast (Oval)

Chasing an imposing target of 374, England looked to be home and dry on 301 for three but Brook (111) and Root (105) both they stumbled with victory in sight on Day 4.

India took an early grip by dismissing both Duckett and Pope. But Brook and Root shared a superb fourth-wicket partnership of 195 to put England on the brink of completing a record run chase before Brook took a wild swing and was caught.

The runs dried up and India fought back in the last hour before rain pushed the series finale to the last day. England will resume on 339-6 needing 35 runs, but with India still in with a chance of a victory that would level a gripping five-match series.
