India crush Windies by an innings after Jadeja allround brilliance: 1st Test, Day 3 ...

Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja spun a web as India wrapped up the first Test against West Indies on Day 3 in Ahmedabad with a commanding innings and 140-run victory.

Resuming the day in full control, India’s bowlers—led by Jadeja, who took 4 wickets to go with his unbeaten century—quickly dismantled the West Indian resistance.

After being bowled out for 162 in their first innings in reply to India’s imposing 448/5 declared, the visitors fared no better in the second innings, collapsing for just 146. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav provided excellent support with key strikes as India sealed the match before tea.

Earlier, centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel (his maiden Test ton), and Jadeja had set up the dominance. The emphatic win gave India a 1-0 lead in the two-match series and reaffirmed their home supremacy in Test cricket.

India 448 for 5 (Jurel 125, Jadeja 104*, Rahul Chase 2-90) beat West Indies 162 (Greaves 32, Siraj 4-40, Bumrah 3-42) and 146 (Athanaze 38, Jadeja 4-54, Siraj 3-31) by an innings and 140 runs.
