1984: Coney and Crowe dig in to save NZ (Wellington)

Martin Crowe and Jeremy Coney batted for hour after hour to save the match in a high scoring 1st Test at Basin Reserve.

Ian Botham smashed 138 runs and took 5 wickets in the first innings, earning the Player of the Match award. Derek Randall  scored 164 runs in England’s first innings.

In the second innings, Jeremy Coney (New Zealand): remained unbeaten with a commanding 174 and Martin Crowe scored 100.
