Zimbabwe break drought with historic win after Ngarava six: Only Test, Day 3 (Harare)

Zimbabwe completed a historic victory over Afghanistan on the third day of the one-off Test in Harare, winning by an innings and 73 runs — their first Test win in more than four years and their largest ever by an innings.

After piling up 359 in their first innings, anchored by Ben Curran’s maiden Test century, Zimbabwe’s bowlers dominated both Afghan innings. Afghanistan were dismissed for 127 and 159, with Richard Ngarava leading the charge in the second innings with a five-wicket haul.

Ziaur Rahman’s 7 for 97 on debut was a rare bright spot for the visitors, but Zimbabwe’s all-round superiority ensured a comprehensive and memorable triumph, marking a significant resurgence in their Test cricket journey.

Zimbabwe 359 (Curran 121, Raza 65, Ziaur Rahman 7-97) beat Afghanistan 127 (Evans 5-22, Muzarabani 3-47) and 159 (Ibrahim 42, Ngarava 5-37, Muzarabani 3-48, Chivanga 2-40) by an innings and 73 runs.
