Hope leads Windies win as Santner almost turns tables: 1st T20 (Auckland)

Skipper Mitchell Santner almost snatched a win as West Indies beat New Zealand by 7 runs in the 1st T20I at Eden Park.

West Indies posted 164/6 (20 overs) after recovering from early wickets, with Shai Hope anchoring the innings with a rapid half-century.

New Zealand’s reply faltered early, but Mitchell Santner exploded at the back end and almost stole it with a brilliant counter-attacking fifty, however he ran out of support in the final overs.

West Indies stayed composed with the ball at the death and closed the chase down cleanly to take a 1–0 lead in the series.
