Nawaz, Zaman guide Pakistan win over Zimbabwe: Tri T20 No 1 (Rawalpindi)

Pakistan edged Zimbabwe by five wickets in the opening match of the 2025 Tri-Nation T20 Series in Rawalpindi, chasing down 148 with four balls to spare.

Zimbabwe began brightly through Brian Bennett’s brisk 49, reaching a strong position at 91/1 before Pakistan’s spinners — led by Mohammad Nawaz’s tidy 2/22 — triggered a collapse to 147/8.

Pakistan’s reply wobbled at 31/3, but a steadying stand between Fakhar Zaman (44 off 32) and Usman Khan (an assured 37*) restored control, with Nawaz finishing the job in the closing overs. The match underlined Zimbabwe’s inability to capitalise on a dominant start, while Pakistan’s depth and composure proved decisive in a tense series opener.

Pakistan 151 for 5 (Fakhar 44, Usman 37*, Evans 2-26) beat Zimbabwe 147 for 8 (Bennett 49, Nawaz 2-22) by five wickets.
