India crumble to record defeat to South Africa as Harmer takes six: 2nd Test, Day 5 ...

Spinner Simon Harmer was the key destroyer as South Africa completed a historic 2–0 series win by crushing India on Day 5 of the 2nd Test in Guwahati, winning by a massive 408 runs — India’s heaviest home defeat by runs.

Chasing an improbable 549, India collapsed early and slipped to 90/5 by tea, unable to cope with Simon Harmer’s relentless spin. Harmer finished with a decisive six-wicket haul as India were bundled out for just 140 despite a brief resistance from Ravindra Jadeja (54).

The result ended South Africa’s 25-year wait for a Test series victory in India and left the hosts facing deep questions about their batting resilience and inability to handle pressure on a turning surface.

South Africa 489 (Muthusamy 109, Jansen 93, Kuldeep 4-115) and 260 for 5 decl. (Stubbs 94, de Zorzi 49, Jadeja 4-62) beat India 201 (Jaiswal 58, Washington 48, Jansen 6-48) and 140 (Jadeja 54, Harmer 6-37) by 408 runs.
