Snicko error admitted after Carey escapes dismissal (Adelaide)

The Alex Carey Snicko controversy arose when England reviewed a not-out decision for a caught-behind appeal against Carey, only for Snickometer to show an audio spike that appeared out of sync with the ball passing the bat.

The impact on England was significant both on the scoreboard and psychologically, as Alex Carey’s reprieve allowed him to score a match-shaping century that blunted England’s momentum after a strong bowling spell.

The third umpire upheld the on-field call, allowing Carey to continue and go on to score a century, a moment that proved significant in Australia’s innings.

BBG Sports, the company that owns Snicko, has accepted culpability for the mistake claiming the audio from the bowlers end was used in error by their operator.
