Hodge powers Windies, takes fights to Kiwis: 3rd Test, Day 3 (Mt Maunganui)

West Indies showed grit on Day 3 of the third Test at Mount Maunganui as they fought back against New Zealand’s massive first-innings total of 575/8 declared.

Resuming well behind, the visitors reached 381/6 by stumps, led by a superb unbeaten century from Kavem Hodge that helped them avoid the follow-on.

Despite the resistance, West Indies still trail by 194 runs, leaving New Zealand firmly in control as the match heads into Day 4.

West Indies 381 for 6 (Hodge 109*, King 63, Duffy 2-79) trail New Zealand 575 for 8 dec (Conway 227, Latham 137, Ravindra 72*, Greaves 2-83) by 194 runs.
