Latham, Conway pound Windies again, break records: 3rd Test, Day 4 (Mt Maunganui)

Devon Conway and Tom Latham became the first pair of openers to score twin tons in the same game in all first-class cricket as New Zealand tightened their grip on the third Test at Mount Maunganui on Day 4.

The Kiwi's set West Indies a daunting target after another dominant batting display.

Building on their huge first-innings lead, New Zealand declared their second innings on 306/2, with centuries from Conway and Latham underlining the hosts’ authority.

West Indies began the chase cautiously and reached 43/0 by stumps, with Brandon King and John Campbell surviving the final session, but they still face a near-impossible task needing more than 400 runs on the final day, firmly leaving New Zealand in control of the match.

West Indies 420 (Hodge 123*, King 63, Duffy 4-86) and 43 for 0 (King 37*, Campbell 2*) need another 419 runs to beat New Zealand 575 for 8 dec and 306 for 2 dec (Latham 101, Conway 100, Hodge 2-80).
