Brook, Root centuries deliver series win over SL: 3rd ODI (RPS)

The series decider in Colombo was a thrilling contest: after winning the toss, England chose to bat first and put up a huge 357/3, powered by centuries from Harry Brook and Joe Root to set a daunting target of 358.

In reply, Sri Lanka fought back with some resistance, but couldn’t quite keep up with the asking rate and England went on to win by 53 runs, clinching the ODI series.

Pavan Rathnayake’s 121, his maiden ODI century, was the highlight in Sri Lanka’s chase but they fell short.

England 357-3 (50 overs): Brook 136* (66), Root 111* (108), Bethell 65 (72) vs Sri Lanka 304 (46.4 overs): Rathnayake 121 (115), Nissanka 50 (25); Jacks 2-43 England won by 53 runs; win three-match series 2-1
