Litton defies Pakistan, rescues Bangladesh: 2nd Test, Day 1 (Sylhet)

Litton Das's fighting hundred led Bangladesh’s fightback as they recovered from a precarious position on the first day of the second and final Test against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Stadium.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 after a mixed batting effort, with Litton Das (126) playing the standout innings, compiling a fluent century to hold the innings together while wickets fell around him.

Pakistan’s pace attack maintained consistent pressure throughout the day, regularly striking through both new-ball and middle sessions to restrict Bangladesh below what looked like a par score on a good batting surface. The home team were struggling at 116-6 before Litton effected the rescue.

In reply, Pakistan reached a solid position of 21-0 by stumps.

Pakistan 21 for 0 (Awais 13*, Fazal 8*) trail Bangladesh 278 (Litton 126, Shanto 29, Shahzad 4-81, Abbas 3-45) by 257 runs.
