Campbell, King deny SL, Windies clinch series: 2nd Test, Day 5 (Antigua)

Sri Lanka declared their second innings on 251/9 during the morning session of the fifth day, setting West Indies a challenging target of 302 to win the second Test but the home side held firm for a draw.

Dinesh Chandimal led the way with a polished 71, while Kamindu Mendis contributed 44 as the visitors scored briskly before captain Dhananjaya de Silva called his batters in. Having already secured a first-innings lead, Sri Lanka gave themselves enough time to push for victory and square the series.

West Indies responded with a disciplined batting display to ensure the match ended in a draw.

Openers John Campbell and Brandon King negotiated the Sri Lankan attack superbly, both reaching unbeaten half-centuries as the hosts finished on 109/0 from 40 overs. Their unbroken opening stand denied Sri Lanka any breakthroughs, allowing West Indies to preserve the draw and secure a 1-0 victory in the two-match Test series.

Sri Lanka 549 for 9 dec (Udara 188, Dinusha 92, Seales 2-98, Shamar 2-98) and 251 for 9 dec (Chandimal 71, Alzarri 2-44) drew with West Indies 499 (Greaves 180, Hope 112, Asitha 5-130) and 109 for 0 (Campbell 51*, King 51*).
