NZ beat Windies by 1 wicket as Chapman, Santner shine: 4th ODI (Barbados)

Windies spinner Motie sparked a late collapse but New Zealand completed a remarkable comeback from 0-1 down to clinch the ODI series with a thrilling one-wicket victory over West Indies in the fourth ODI at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.

After dismissing the hosts for 188 in 44.4 overs, the Black Caps looked in control before Gudakesh Motie sparked a dramatic collapse with a superb five-wicket haul. Despite the late wobble, New Zealand held their nerve to reach 189 for 9 in 44.1 overs and take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Mitchell Santner was the hero for New Zealand, remaining unbeaten on 34 from 56 balls to guide his side home in a tense finish after Mark Chapman had earlier laid the foundation with a valuable innings of 80. West Indies fought bravely with the ball, but dropped chances and the inability to claim the final wicket proved costly as New Zealand edged over the line to seal the series with one match still to play.

Earlier, West Indies slipped to 58-3 and 81-6 before the innings was revived by a partnership of 81 for the seventh wicket between Amir Jangoo and Gudakesh Motie. Jangoo scored 51, his half century from 71 balls, as West Indies ground its way toward a modest total. Motie made 41. Young seamer Matthew Fisher took 3-40 in eight overs

New Zealand 189 for 9 (Chapman 80, Santner 34*, Motie 5-47) beat West Indies 188 (Jangoo 51, Motie 41, Fisher 3-40, Santner 2-36) by one wicket.
