After losing 2 early wickets, England completed an eight-wicket victory to secure a 3–0 series whitewash over Pakistan.
Chasing 130, England suffered a dramatic start as Mohammad Abbas dismissed Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay in the opening over, leaving the hosts 2/2. But Joe Root (62) and Jordan Cox (59) responded brilliantly, adding an unbeaten 128 to take England safely to victory.
Root’s unbeaten half-century was particularly significant: it was his 69th Test fifty, moving him past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 68, while he also passed 1,000 Test runs at Edgbaston.
Pakistan’s spirited fightback on Day 3 had briefly raised hopes of an upset, but England’s superior pace attack and experienced batting ultimately proved decisive.
Ollie Robinson finished the series with 21 wickets and was named England’s player of the series, while England completed a convincing clean sweep under returning captain Root.
England 453 (Brook 75, Smith 69, Lawrence 65, Gay 60, Robinson 50, Razaullah 4-148) and 132 for 2 (Root 62*, Cox 59*) beat Pakistan 133 (Shakeel 43, Tongue 4-42, Robinson 3-15, Archer 3-25) and 449 (Masood 95, Razaullah 81, Babar 76, Awais 59) by eight wickets.
