Shanto and Mushfiqur led the way as Bangladesh strengthened their grip on the Test against Afghanistan, extending their overall lead to 329 runs after reaching 223 for 6 in their second innings.

Hossain Shanto scored 82 and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 81, providing the backbone of Bangladesh’s batting effort. Afghanistan’s Ahmadzai and Zia claimed two wickets each, but Bangladesh continued to build a commanding advantage.

Earlier, Afghanistan were dismissed for 240 in reply to Bangladesh’s first-innings total of 346, conceding a lead of 106 runs. Rahmat Shah fought a determined lone battle with an unbeaten 105, while Mahmud took five wickets for 51 runs and Ebadot Hossain claimed four for 56 to dismantle the Afghan batting line-up.

With four wickets remaining and a substantial lead already established, Bangladesh were firmly positioned to dictate the remainder of the match.

Bangladesh 346 and 223 for 6 (Shanto 82, Mushfiqur 81, Ahmadzai 2-42, Zia 2-55) lead Afghanistan 240 (Rahmat 105*, Mahmud 5-51, Ebadot 4-56) by 329 runs.
