NZ bounce back after Phillips blows away India: 4th T20 (Auckland)

Glenn Phillips smashed a rapid century as New Zealand produced a commanding performance to defeat India by 87 runs in the fourth T20I, posting an imposing 259 for 7 after being sent in to bat.

Phillips was the outstanding performer, smashing a superb 107 off 49 balls, while Michael Bracewell provided explosive support with 65 off just 25 deliveries. Their powerful partnership propelled New Zealand to a formidable total, with India’s bowlers struggling to contain the scoring.

India’s chase never gathered momentum as New Zealand’s bowlers struck regularly to restrict the visitors to 172 for 9 in their 20 overs. Tilak Varma top-scored with 35, while Jacob Duffy made early inroads and Mayank Yadav claimed three wickets.

The comprehensive 87-run victory gave New Zealand their first win of the series, although India retained a 3–1 lead heading into the fifth and final T20I.

New Zealand 259 for 7 (Phillips 107, Bracewell 65, Mayank 3-48) beat India 172 for 9 (Tilak 35, Duffy 4-23, Santner 2-24, Fisher 2-40) by 87 runs.
