Waugh battles to another Ashes win (2001)

The 2001 Ashes battle was won 4-1 by Steve Waugh's Australian team extending a winning streak since they won 1989 Ashes series.

Shane Warne and Mark Butcher were named Players of the Series. The series also marked the retirement of former England captain Mike Atherton who finished his international career after the Fifth and final Test.

Mark Butcher guided England to victory with an innings of 173 on the final day of the fourth Test for a consolation win.
