Bangladesh defeat NZ after Rana strikes: 2nd ODI (Mirpur)

Paceman Nahid Rana struck with the ball as Bangladesh levelled the series 1–1 with a composed win over New Zealand in the 2nd ODI in Dhaka.

Bangladesh’s bowlers set the tone, keeping things tight on a sluggish Mirpur pitch and restricting New Zealand to a modest total through disciplined lines and smart use of variations.

Chasing, Bangladesh showed far better control than in the first match, with Najmul Hossain Shanto anchoring the innings and Towhid Hridoy providing support. Their improved strike rotation and calm approach ensured there were no late hiccups, as they reached the target comfortably to square the series heading into the decider.

Scores

New Zealand 198 all out (48.4 overs) Nick Kelly: 83 (102) Nathan Smith: 18* Nahid Rana: 5/32

Bangladesh 199/4 (35.3 overs) Tanzid Hasan: 76 (58) Najmul Hossain Shanto: 50 (retired hurt) Towhid Hridoy: 30*

Result: Bangladesh won by 6 wickets
