May and Cowdrey tame spin twins (1957)

The confusing mystery posed by Alf Valentine and Sonny Ramadhin was finally tamed as skipper Peter May (285 not out) and Colin Cowdrey (154) put on a record 411 for the 4th wicket to prevent a loss in the first Test after Ramadhin took 7-49 to bowl England out for 186.

Tom Graveney smashed 2 hundreds to total 472 runs in the series as England won the series 3-0. Paceman Fred Trueman (22 wickets) and spinner Tony Lock (15 wickets) were the spearheads of the English attack.
