Birth of a star: JP Duminy on his 166 (MCG)

Leading a sensational fightback JP Duminy was the last man to fall for a magnificent 166.

There was a shade of Brian Lara's maiden test ton 277 in Sydney in 1993 as the 24yearold new comer displayed great concentration to turn the match upside down.

Duminy faced 340 deliveries and struck 18 boundaries to put his team on top. He put on the third highest 9th wicket stand of 180 with Dale Steyn. Duminy made his Test debut in Perth where he hit a wonderfully composed 50 not out in South Africa's famous successful chase of 414.
