Tantalising chase ahead on final day: 3rd Test, Day 4 (SCG)

South Africa were 62-1 needing 314 runs on the final day to complete a clean sweep of the series and take the No. 1 test ranking spot off the Aussies.

Earlier Australia took their overnight score from 330 to 257-4 declared with Simon Katich 61 and Ricky Ponting 53 making strong contributions. The out of form Matt Hayden fell to Morne Morkel for just 39 and risks ending his career after a form slump.
