Lankans shock Indians amidst burning stands (1996)

Sri Lanka staged a remarkable recovery to make its first ever world cup final. After being 35-3 it powered to 251-8 thanks to Aravinda De Silva's 66 in 47 balls. India looked on target at 98-1 but a lightning stumping off Tendulkar caused panic as the Lankan spinners tightened the grip to leave it at 120-8. Crowd trouble caused the game to be awarded to Sri Lanka by match referee Clive Lloyd. World Cup semi final Eden Gardens Mar 1996.
