Ashes shock: Symonds dropped
Allrounder Andrew Symonds was the shock omission when Shane Watson was preferred as Australia named their 16 man squad for the Ashes series.
Nathan Hauritz was the only specialist slow bowler and one of 11 players who will be making their first Ashes tour as pace bowlers Stuart Clark and Brett Lee make a comeback after injury.
