Lankans complete whitewash despite Vettori ton: 2nd Test, Day 5 (SSC)

A defiant century by Daniel Vettori could not prevent Sri Lanka completing a 20 series win to secure the No 2 spot on the ICC rankings.

The Kiwis were chasing a target of 494 and helped by a century stand by Vettori and Jacon Oram 56 put up stern resistance.

Sri Lanka eventually won by 96 runs as Vettori succumbed for 140 the 783rd Test victim for Muttiah Muralitharan. Slow leftarmer Rangana Herath took 5-139.
