Embarrassment: Unfit pitch at Old Trafford

A row has broken out over the abandonment of Australia's second Twenty20 match against England without a ball being bowled at Old Trafford.

Skippers Michael Clarke and Paul Collingwood agreed with the umpires that a crucial area of the field was unfit. But Lancashire chief executive Jim Cumbes believed the ground was safe and was furious the match was called off.

The England and Wales Cricket Board said it would hold an inquiry into the abandonment.
