Unbeaten Dravid 177 restores Indian pride: 1st Test, Day 1 (Ahmedabad)

A 225 run stand between Rahul Dravid 177 not out and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni 110 put Sri Lanka's attack to the sword as India regained the advantage.

Earlier Sri Lanka began brightly with rookie left armer Chanaka Welegedara claiming three wickets in his first four overs with the new ball to leave the hosts reeling at 32 for four. Dravid's superb unbeaten 177 and stand of 125 for the fifth wicket with Yuvraj Singh 68 stemmed the flow before India reached a commanding 385 for six at stumps.
