Xavier Doherty and Brett Lee grabbed four wickets apiece as Australia dismissed Sri Lanka for just 132.
An unexpected triple-wicket maiden from their debutant leg spinner, Seekkuge Prasanna was not enough for the hosts as they lost in the 28th over.
Australia (Marsh 71, Prasanna 3-32) beat Sri Lanka 132 (Jayawardene 53, Lee 4-15, Doherty 4-28) by five wickets.
