Samuels inspires fightback, Windies win cup: ICC T20 WC Final WIN v SRL (RPS)
Marlon Samuels struck a crucial half-century to lead West Indies to the ICC World Twenty20 trophy after a 36-run upset win over Sri Lanka in the final.
Samuels led them from 32 for two at the midway point of their innings to a total of 137 for six as he struck five of his six 6's off T20 specialist Lasith Malinga (0-54). He made a brilliant 78 off 56 balls, even as Ajantha Mendis returned figures of four for 12.
Sri Lanka collapsed leaving the hosts in a heap at 69 for seven and 101 all out.t consigned Sri Lanka to a fourth defeat in major finals since 2007.
