Thirimanne stars as SL down PAK to clinch title: 2014 Asia Cup Final (Mirpur)

Sri Lanka secured the Asia Cup trophy after 6 years with a hard fought five-wicket victory over defending champions Pakistan, riding on Lasith Malinga's five-wicket haul (5-56) and opener Lahiru Thrimanne's fluent century (101).

Earlier, Fawad Alam (114 not out) struck his maiden century while skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (65) and Umar Akmal (59) chipped in with useful half-centuries to help Pakistan overcome a shaky start to post 260 for five wickets.

Sri Lanka 261 for 5 (Thirimanne 101, Jayawardene 75, Ajmal 3-26) beat Pakistan 260 for 5 (Fawad 114*, Misbah 65, U Akmal 59, Malinga 5-56) by five wickets.
