Root & Anderson record stand rescues England: 1st Test, D4 (Trent Bridge)

A record last-wicket stand and late wickets gave England an outside chance of victory over India.

Last man James Anderson (81) and Joe Root (154 not out) put on 198 for the 10th wicket, surpassing the prior record of 163 scored by Australia's Phil Hughes and Ashton Agar in the 2013 Ashes.

India 457 and 167 for 3 (Pujara 55, Vijay 52, Moeen 2-39) lead England 496 (Root 154*, Anderson 81, Bhuvneshwar 5-82) by 128 runs.
