AB guides South Africa to win: 1st ODI (Bay of Plenty)

Skipper AB de Villiers guided his side to a six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first game of their three match one-day series.

De Villiers (89 not out) combined with JP Duminy (58 not out) in a 139-run partnership after being reduced to 97 for four. Earlier, New Zealand were rescued by a record 10th-wicket partnership of 74 between Luke Ronchi (99) and Trent Boult which rescued New Zealand from 9 for 156.

South Africa 236 for 4 (De Villiers 89*, Duminy 58*) beat New Zealand 230 (Ronchi 99, Tahir 2-37) by six wickets.
