Fighting Root century rescues England: 3rd Test, Day 2 (J'borg)
Joe Root scored a superb century after England were wobbling at 91-4. Root (106 not out) and Ben Stokes (58) put on a fifth-wicket stand of 111 to push England to 238-5.
Earlier, South Africa pushed their total to 313 thanks to a late fightback from their lower order.
England 238 for 5 (Root 106*, Bairstow 4*) trail South Africa 313 (Elgar 46, Stokes 3-53) by 75 runs.
