Tharanga century extends SL dominance: 1st Test, Day 2 (Harare)

Upul Tharanga (110 not out) stroked his second career century as Sri Lanka continued its dominance in the first Test against Zimbabwe.

Asela Gunaratne offered support to the 31-year-old Tharanga with 54 as Sri Lanka added another 220 runs to post 537.

In reply, Zimbabwe lost opener Brian Chari lbw to Rangana Herath for five but Tino Mawoyo (41 not out) and Hamilton Masakadza (33no) staged a Zimbabwe fightback to help the hosts reach 88 for one.

Zimbabwe 88 for 1 (Mawoyo 41*, Masakadza 33*) trail Sri Lanka 537 (Tharanga 110*, Perera 110, Cremer 4-142) by 449 runs.
