Dickwella, Gunaratne inspire record 4th innings chase: 1st Test, Day 5 (RPS)

Niroshan Dickwella and Asela Gunaratne shared a crucial century stand for the 6th wicket as Sri Lanka posted their highest-ever run chase to beat Zimbabwe by four wickets in a thrilling finish.

Resuming at 170-3, Sri Lanka lost two wickets early. Gunaratne (80 not out) and Dickwella (81) put on a brilliant stand to bring about the record win which was the highest ever run chase in Asia.

At this point in time, this was the fifth highest run-chase in Test history. See full list here.

Sri Lanka 346 (Tharanga 71, Chandimal 55, Cremer 5-125) and 391 for 6 (Dickwella 81, Gunaratne 80*, Cremer 4-150) beat Zimbabwe 356 (Ervine 160, Herath 5-116) and 377 (Raza 127, Waller 68, Herath 6-133) by four wickets.
