Rohit, Kuldeep shine as India break jinx: 5th ODI (Port Elizabeth)

Rohit Sharma regained form with a fighting 115 as India wrote history by winning its first ever series in any format on South African soil as they crushed South Africa by 73 runs to take an unassailable 4-1 lead in the five-match ODI series.

Chasing 275, South Africa put up a fight before wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4/57 ) mesmerised the the lower-order to bowl them out for 201.

Earlier, Rohit overcame his dismal run to hit his 17th ODI hundred. He smashed 10 fours and four sixes but was dropped by Tabraiz Shamsi on 96 in the 34th over.

Prior to this win, no Indian team had won any series in South Africa, a dismal record stretching back to their first tour in 1992.

India 274 for 7 (Rohit 115, Ngidi 4-51) beat South Africa 201 (Amla 71, Kuldeep 4-57) by 73 runs.
