Morne takes 300, South Africa in command: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Newlands)

Paceman Morne Morkel took his 300th career wicket as South Africa edged ahead when they reduced Australia to 245 for nine.

Australia were struggling at 175/8 before a late flurry from Nathan Lyon (47) and Tim Paine (33*) reduced the gap.

Australia ended the day on 245-9 in response to South Africa's first innings score of 311.

Australia 245 for 9 (Bancroft 77, Morkel 4-87, Rabada 3-81) trail South Africa 311 (Elgar 141*, De Villiers 64, Cummins 4-78) by 66 runs.
