Defiant Dimuth carries bat to prop up Sri Lanka: 1st Test, Day 1 (Galle)

Dimuth Karunaratne was the rock as he carried his bat for an unbeaten 158 to lift Sri Lanka to 287 all out against South Africa.

Paceman Rabada took 4 wickets and left-arm chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi contributed 3-91 in his second outing as Sri Lanka collapsed after lunch losing 4 quick wickets.

South Africa 4 for 1 (Elgar 4, Maharaj 0*, Herath 1-1) trail Sri Lanka 287 (Karunaratne 158*, Gunathilaka 26, Rabada 4-50, Shamsi 3-91) by 283 runs.
