Dilruwan six destroys South Africa for 73 in thumping win: 1st Test, Day 3 (Galle)

Sri Lanka off-spinner Dilruwan Perera took six wickets in the second innings for a match-haul of 10, as the hosts registered a thumping 278-run win over South Africa.

Sri Lanka collapsed to lose their last 6 wickets cheaply in the morning session as they set South Africa a target of 352 for victory.

Perera (six for 32) combined with veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath (three for 32), as the pair bowled in an unbroken partnership for 28 overs to secure the win.

Herath moved to ninth on the all-time wicket tally, with 423 Test wickets.

Sri Lanka 287 (Karunaratne 158*, Rabada 4-50, Shamsi 3-91) & 190 (Karunaratne 60, Maharaj 4-58, Rabada 3-44) beat South Africa 126 (du Plessis 49, Dilruwan 4-46, Lakmal 3-21) & 73 (Philander 22, Dilruwan 6-32, Herath 3-38) by 278 runs.
