Curran rescues England after collapse: 4th Test, Day 1 (Southampton)

20 year old all rounder Sam Curran saved England after a top order batting collapse against India.

England were tottering at 86-6 after they won the toss when Curran, recalled to play only his fourth Test, smashed 78 to enable England to post 246.

Curran (78) shared stands of 81 with Moeen Ali (40) and 63 with Stuart Broad as seamer Bumrah took 3-46.

India, down 1-2 in the series, survived 4 overs before stumps.

India 19 for 0 (Rahul 11*, Sharma 3*) trail England 246 (Curran 78, Bumrah 3-46) by 227 runs.
