Kuldeep, Krunal shine as India edge out Windies: 1st T20 (Kolkata)

Debutant Krunal Pandya provided terrific allround support and Dinesh Karthik played a superb 31-run knock to take India to a five-wicket win against the Windies .

Kuldeep (3-13) took the key wickets including skipper Carlos Brathwaite trapped lbw for four as the Caribbean batting fell flat. Pandya got the big-hitting Kieron Pollard out for 14 with his left-arm spin to celebrate his first international wicket as the Windies stumbled to 109-8.

Chasing a paltry 110-run target, India suffered a rare top-order collapse, losing Rohit Sharma in the first over. Karthik had a 38-run partnership with Manish Pandey.

Krunal Pandya, brother of Hardik, hit 21 not out in 9 balls to help India go one up in the T20I series with 13 balls to spare.

India 110 for 5 (Karthik 31*, Krunal 21*, Brathwaite 2-11, Thomas 2-21) beat West Indies 109 for 8 (Allen 27, Kuldeep 3-13) by five wickets.
