Debutant Ajaz scripts miracle win as Pakistan throw it away: 1st Test, Day 4 (Abu Dhabi)

Debutant left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel (5/59) led New Zealand to a thrilling four-run victory after Pakistan collapsed in a suspicious manner that is bound to attract an ICC probe.

Chasing a 176-run target, Pakistan had victory in their grasp at 130-3. The New Zealand attack led by Patel (5-59), fast bowler Neil Wagner (2-27) and Ish Sodhi (2-37) bowled out Pakistan for 171 after a spectacular collapse.

This narrow win by New Zealand was the fifth smallest win in terms of runs in Test cricket's history.

New Zealand 153 (Williamson 63, Yasir 3-54) and 249 (Watling 59, Nicholls 55, Hasan 5-45, Yasir 5-110) beat Pakistan 227 (Babar 62, Boult 4-54) and 171 (Azhar 65, Patel 5-59) by four runs.
