England in charge after maiden Burns ton: 1st Test, Day 2 (Edgbaston)

Opener Rory Burns battled to his maiden Test century enabling England to dominate Australia.

Burns survived an LBW appeal that was not reviewed by Australia to end the day at 125 not out.

With Joe Root making 57 in a second-wicket stand of 132 and Ben Stokes an unbeaten 38, England reached 267-4, trailing by 17. After a 3 year layoff, paceman James Pattinson snared two key wickets in his Test comeback.

England 267 for 4 (Burns 125*, Stokes 38*) trail Australia 284 by 17 runs.
