Nissanka powers narrow win over Hong Kong after SL collapse: 2025 Asia Cup No 8 (Dubai)

Sri Lanka edged past Hong Kong after a mid innings collapse in a tense Asia Cup 2025 Group B T20 clash in Dubai, winning by four wickets with seven balls to spare.

Batting first, Hong Kong posted a competitive 149/4, built around Anshuman Rath’s steady 48 and support from Nizakat Khan.

Sri Lanka’s chase was anchored by Pathum Nissanka, who top-scored with a fluent 68 off 44 balls, holding the innings together under pressure. Sri Lanka spectacularly collapsed from 119-2 to 127-6.

Hong Kong’s spinners Ehsan Khan and Yasim Murtaza briefly kept the game alive with timely wickets, but a costly no-ball in the 18th over followed by a six shifted momentum back to Sri Lanka.

Wanindu Hasaranga’s late cameo of 18 from six balls sealed the result, ensuring Sri Lanka stayed on course for the Super Four stage.

Sri Lanka 153 for 6 (Nissanka 68, Hasaranga 20*, Murtaza 2-37) beat Hong Kong 149 for 4 (Nizakat 52*, Rath 48, Chameera 2-29) by four wickets.
